10. VI 1999.:

Loud burst of fire and AAA action have been heard last night after the signing of the military agreement between FRY and KFOR. It's not known why did the AAA units acted last night, even when there were no air strike alerts.

A few thousand of people were last night at the main Belgrade square to ... end of aggression our country. Machine-gun burst and action of AAA were heard at the most parts of Belgrade.

All we can assume is that it wasn't an celebration of signing the military agreement but psycho-physical discharge of lot of the accumulated nervous and pain by constant horrible air strikes.

USA Aircraft Shot Down

June 01, 1999

B2a

Belgrade, 30 May, 1999 "Ilustrovana Politika" Reported by Slobodan Milosevic

The maneuver of deceiving the Yugoslav Anti Aircraft Artillery fails: hit over Surcin, the most praised strategic Stealth aircraft, "B-2A Spirit", hit the ground behind the last houses in Dec village, in Pecinci district.

The cool night in May, the sky is full of stars. Unfortunately, the meteorological conditions over Belgrade are perfect for a flight of the black "spirit". Three aircraft are flying to the capital of Yugoslavia. These strategic bombers, "B-2A Spirit" from the American war airforce, marked "509 Bombers wing ER force USA", carry some 101 tons of the lethal facilities in its containers: cruising missiles SRAM AGM-69A, AGM-129A and AGM-131A, MK84 bombs, cluster bombs and inflammable M117.

The sky is roaring while three black birds, each weighting 181.400 kilos, are flying through the black night, 15km over the ground, their wings in the shape of the letter "W", each has the surface of 465,5 square meters. Their target is Belgrade.  Two pilots feel safe in their cockpits as they are flying too high, but they will have to fly lower to fulfill their task. And than...  They are discovered...

The bombardier's formation, accompanied by the fighter planes, is already over Yugoslavia when the Yugoslav army unit "VOJIN" in the northwest zone of operations gives the alarm. First Yugoslav Anti Aircraft Artillery shots are fired through the darkness. As the aircraft are coming deeper into the air space of FR Yugoslavia, the artillery fire from the ground is harder and harder.

A part of the air-force brigade is attacking the northeast sector of Belgrade. Their plan is to distract the attention of the Yugoslav Anti Aircraft Artillery from the "B-2A" as in already performed attack on the Chinese embassy at 23,30 p.m. on 7th May, and to direct it to the Pancevo bridge and Belgrade down town. At the same time, the strategic bombardiers formation will sneak from Surcin to Yugoslav capital and rock it.

The sky over Belgrade was in flames at that first hour of 20th May, 1999. The hospitals in Dedinje were hit. And the "spirits" were already over Surcin, the pilots thought that the trick was perfect. But, the fire arrows were flying from the ground towards the "invisible", the canon grenades and the ground-air missiles were fired. Bingo! Direct hit.

The aircraft crews realized that their anxiety was not groundless and they started to fly their heavy machines over 5.000 meters. However, it was late for one of the "spirits". The direct hit into the cock-pit of the American "B-2A", terminated its flight for ever, and thwarted his attentions to bomb already wounded Belgrade.

The smoke was heavy while the "invisible" wing was in fire. The black bird fall headfirst and other two were already escaping to the safe highs, turning their cock-pits towards the air- base.

According to the eye-witnesses, "B-2A" hit the ground in Dec village, Pecinci county, the field between Simanovci and Kupinovo. All eye-witnesses from Surcin stated that the crew had had no time to catapult and died for sure in the blasted American airforce's bomber.

The morning news broadcasted short information about the USA strategic bomber that had been shot. The news was not denied, even by the NATO. One of twenty "B-2A" that costed 2,4 billion dollars ended in the fields near Surcin.

At the beginning of the aggression on Yugoslavia, only two strategic bombers "B-2A Spirit" were put into the battle.   The aggressors believed that they could ruin the spirit of the people and their effective defense.

But, after the fierce response of the Yugoslav Army, the hopes for uick and easy success of the criminal armada failed and the NATO command cried out for new "B-2A". After the long persuasion of the USA, four more "B-2A" came from the "Waiman base" on the 1st April, 1999.   One of those "Spirits" will never come back.

The mayor of Nis, Zoran Zivkovic, stated that 34 civilians were killed, hundreds wounded and that the civic services infrastructure was severely damaged by NATO attacks on his city since the beginning of the aggression.

In the night between May 31 and June 1, NATO planes once again targeted the electric power grid in Belgrade, causing a power outage in the Yugoslav capital. Facilities in Pancevo, Mladenovac, Kikinda, Vranje and many places in Kosovo and Metohija were also attacked.

Transformer stations in the Belgrade suburbs of Bezanija and Lestane, targeted on May 27, were hit with three missiles, after which the Belgrade and most of Vojvodina were left without any electricity. During the last 24 hours, Prizren and its surrounding area suffered the fiercest attacks since the beginning of NATO aggression against Yugoslavia. On May 31 NATO dropped more than 82 bombs exclusively striking at civilian targets in the region. TWENTY-THREE PEOPLE KILLED IN NOVI PAZAR. At least 23 people were killed during a NATO attack on a residential area of Novi Pazar, announced the Yugoslav minister without portfolio, Goran Matic, at a press conference in Belgrade on June 1. NATO planes fired 20 missiles on Novi Pazar, directly hitting an apartment building. The local TV station in Kraljevo reported that one of the victims was a two year old boy. Another 23 people were wounded during the NATO air strike. Matic said more than 60 people in Yugoslavia were killed by NATO bombs over the weekend, and another 100 were wounded. He accused CNN, the BBC and SKY of reporting less of civilian suffering in Yugoslavia, while airing more reports of NATO officials justifying the air raids. Matic called on the U.S. and Great Britain, as "the main promoters of the bombing, to openly tell the World what their goals are and what they hope to achieve by these crimes."

JOVANOVIC CONFIRMS YUGOSLAVIA ACCEPTS G-8 PRINCIPLES. Yugoslav Foreign Minister Zivadin Jovanovic sent a letter to German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer in which he emphasizes that the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia accepts the principles for resolving the Kosovo crisis proposed by the G-8, the group of seven of the world's most developed countries and Russia. In his letter, the Yugoslav foreign minister says that Yugoslavia accepts the principles proposed by G-8, including a U.N. presence as set out by a U.N. Security Council resolution. In order to achieve peace, it is necessary that the NATO aggression be halted immediately, said Jovanovic. Jovanovic also said that the Yugoslav and Serbian governments "strongly support a lasting political solution to the Kosovo crisis, based on the principles of equality for all citizens and national communities, with broad autonomy, while fully respecting Yugoslavia's territorial integrity.

BELGRADE METROPOLITAN AREA BOMBED ON JUNE 1. NATO planes bombed the the Belgrade metropolitan area on June 1, BETA was told by the city's emergencies center. The same source said several missiles were fired at Obrenovac, Lipovicka Suma, and Bezanijska Kosa. Officials at the center were not able to give further on what exactly was targeted. There was a strong response from the Yugoslav Army's anti-aircraft defenses.

NATO DESTROYS SERBIA'S ELECTRICITY. The damage caused by NATO's daily bombings of electric power facilities is almost unrepearable in some parts of Serbia, which as a result have been left without any electricity, announced the Serbian electricity utility, Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), on June 1. EPS announced that its repair crews were laboring against immpossible odds to provide electricity to priority customers, including hospitals and bakeries. The utility issued a plea to all customers lucky enough to have power to preserve electricity. EPS said that the destruction by NATO of two major Belgrade electricity distribution facilities on May 31, "has aggravated the existing humanitarian catastrophe, caused by the destruction of power plants." It said that the electricity distribution facilities in Lestane and at Bezanijska Kosa were completely destroyed, and will not be operational for a long time. To add to the calamity, the Belgrade water utility announced on June 1, that it cannot provide clean drinking water until the electricity supply has been fully restored. Water tanker trucks are supplying clean drinking water to priority consumers, including hospitals and bakeries, said the water utility.

COURT TO RULE ON YUGOSLAVIA VS. NATO. On June 2, The International Court of Justice at The Hague will announce a decision on temporary measures in the case of Yugoslavia vs. NATO. Yugoslavia i seeking a temporary injunction from the The Hague court ordering NATO to end the bombing which, Yugoslavia claims is illegal and cannot be justified. Yugoslavia has asked the Court to orders an immediate halt to the bombing, while the court deliberates Yugoslavia's case against the 10 NATO member-countries for illegal use of force and genocide. Charges were brought against Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Holland, Portugal, Spain, Great Britain and the U.S. Presenting their defense arguments in May, the accused states claimed that the The Hague court did not have jurisdiction to issue temporary measures or to rule on the charges brought by Yugoslavia. The jurisdiction of The International Court of Justice at The Hague will become the key issue in the case, believe international legal experts. The jurisdiction of the court is based on the consent of countries petitioning it. A ruling on the main case is expected to take years.

PAVKOVIC SAYS KOSOVO RESOLUTION IN SIGHT. The commander of the Third Yugoslav Army, General Nebojsa Pavkovic, said in Pristina on June 1, that a solution to the Kosovo crisis was "in sight" and that "great efforts are being made in the political and diplomatic spheres." "Recently I spoke with (Yugoslav) President Slobodan Milosevic. Great political efforts are being made at this moment. A practical solution is at hand," he said. "We have accepted all the principles proposed by the G-8, of course modified in only two key points: regarding the withdrawal of army and police from Kosovo and presence of international peacekeeping for Kosovo," said Pavkovic, predicting tough negotiations ahead on the key issues. Meeting with local authorities, guests from Bileca, Republika Srpska, officers of the Republika Srpska Army seventh corps, and representatives a charity from Hercegovina, Pavkovic said that Yugoslavia wants to keep in place forces it had stationed in Kosovo before the start of NATO air strikes. He said that ground forces from NATO countries taking part in the aggression were not welcome in Kosovo. "I believe that a practical solution of this problem is at sight. Once we accomplish this, it will be a great victory for the entire Serb nation, then we can start rebuilding what has been destroyed," Pavkovic said.
